Piracy smart is piracy wise. Part 1.

Skull and Bones

Piracy smart is piracy wise. This has got to be my new favorite motto. How can piracy be smart and in turn be wise? Let Manson teach you. First off, we pirate with torrents. No more peer to peer. Programs such as Kazaa and LimeWire use something called a public folder, a folder whose contents can be viewed and downloaded by anyone, even the MPAA and RIAA. This spells disaster considering those files are not private, and can be used to sue you. No fun.

Torrents use private folders on your PC meaning snooping parties can’t see what you’ve downloaded. There is still the possibility of someone sniffing your traffic and getting information against you that way. Thankfully most torrent applications allow you to use transfer encryption. Use this. Not only will this ensure that those watching won’t know what information you’re transferring, but your ISP will no longer be able to throttle your torrent traffic based on packet shape (Trust me. I’ve worked the ISP industry. This is regular practice.) I strongly recommend you download and use Azureus for your torrenting pleasures. To enable encryption, see the official wiki here.

Tune in shortly for more information on how you can pirate wisely.
