I need to write a text book. Part 2.

Light Bulb 2

Guess what folks? The text book rant was not over. There’s a tad more for your reading displeasure. The most frustrating thing about text books (other than the outrageous pricing) is how they have the pictures in the books placed. I came accross this ‘discovery’ while thumbing through my criminalistics book. “As shown in figure 2-7, (the sentence continues).” Wait just a tick. There is no figure 2-7 on this page. Where could that silly picture be found? Perhaps I missed it. I continue to scan the page. Nope. Not here. Well maybe they forgot to put the picture in. They would certainly have placed the image on the same page as the sentence making reference to the image right? Wrong. They placed it on the next page. Why would they ever do that? Why not spend a little time and think about your job Mr. (or Mrs.) publisher? I shouldn’t have to go on an Easter egg hunt each time I want to look at a picture being discussed in the text. What if on this site I made you hop to another page to look at a picture I was discussing in a post? Would that be acceptable? Absolutely not. Let’s play by the same rules here.
