A place where scientists would not be bothered by petty morality: Rapture.

The more observant of you may have noticed that a little demo for a little game by the little name of Bioshock was released Sunday evening. Some people are excited for Halo 3 (about 1 million last time I checked), but then there is me, who although will play the game, is far more excited and ready for something new, that something being Bioshock. As soon as I was notified that the release was live, I immediately began the download, and waited. After waiting for several hours, I then waited some more. Finally at about 4AM the download had finished. Finally. It was time. I fired up the demo, and to avoid spoilers, I was floored. The game was beautiful, the story fascinating, and the enemies… disturbing as could be, which I loved. If you haven’t already read enough articles on this to know, once you begin playing, you realize that this is not your typical shooter. You have a mixture of genetic enhancements and firearms at your disposal that you must rely on if you wish to survive, but in order to use these to their fullest potential, you have to use these intelligently. Catch your enemy on fire and follow them as they try to locate a water source to extinguish themselves. Once in that pool of water, use your electricity plasmid and he is toast. You’ll find yourself pitted against both the splicers (those addicted to genetic enhancement) and a security system in place to defend the city against intrusion. The interesting thing is that you can hack the security bots to play on our side, and thereby target your enemies. Very much cool.
