You likely already know, but today at Blizzcon 2007, the next expansion to the virally popular World of Warcraft has been announced and titles “The Wrath of the Lich King.” It looks like Blizzard has taken the route of other popular MMORPG developers, deciding to release new expansions on a yearly basis. Excellent news for fans.
Although there has not been any indication of a release date, we can expect this to come this holiday season, if not directly after. This Holiday season is probably going to be the largest group of hit titles the industry has ever seen. I might go homeless after buying everything I need.
So what additions can we look forward to? Along with the obvious additions such as new instances, the list currently available is:
- Master the necromantic powers of the Death Knight – World of Warcraft’s first Hero class.
- Quest to level 80, gaining potent new abilities and talents along the way.
- Learn the craft of spell augmentation with the new Inscription profession.
- Brave the harsh new continent of Northrend, the icy domain of the Lich King.
- Engage in epic siege warfare, deploying mighty siege engines to lay waste to destructible buildings in your path.
- Transform your hero’s look with new character-customization options, including new hairstyles and dances.
- Explore perilous new dungeons filled with some of the deadliest creatures — and greatest treasures — on Azeroth.
