Does anyone but me think it’s a little odd that the two highest rated games on the Playstation 3, according to IGN, are both titles which were released some time ago, on other platforms? Ninja Gaiden Sigma, given a 9.3/10 rating is essentially a copy of Ninja Gaiden Black on the Xbox, with improved graphics, and an alternate character which the review calls “reasonably fun.” The second title I am referring to is The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion which was given a 9.2/10. This title, prior to its PS3 release, saw I wide audience across both the PC and Xbox 360 platforms. The main difference? The PC and Xbox 360 had these titles a year earlier, and both saw loads of additional content, including the newly released Shivering Isles Expansion which seems strangely absent from the PS3 lineup with an official release date of TBA 2007. I am not attacking these games nor am I attacking Sony, but I can’t help but feel that consoles are made or broken based on their exclusive titles, and to see the best games on a console be reiterations of old titles seems very out of place. Sony needs to get their act together and release the killer apps that made their Playstation 2 what it is. I am a gamer. I have a Ninendo Wii, Xbox 360, PC gaming rig, and a Playstation 2. The reason I have not yet decided to purchase a Playstation 3 is its total lack of exclusives worth playing. To me, the money is not an issue. If I felt the desire, I would go out and purchase the Playstation 3, but when I think about it, the console would simply sit on my desk and collect dust. That’s the problem.
