Back in November of 2006, I and a few friends camped out at our local EB games in the anticipation of obtaining a preorder for the Nintendo Wii. There were only 16 units available, so thankfully we occupied places 4, 5, 6, and 7. I documented this adventure, and posted it on YouTube, and since then have had a couple honors given, many views, and many comments. It was truly a surprise and a thrill to see so much interest. As the Wii was released, attention on the video naturally declined, but on June 12th, 2007, I received a message from a Nintendo of America representative requesting the use of this video for the 2007 E3 press conference! Great news! I happily agreed and was sent two release forms; one for Nintendo of America and one for E3. I filled out the forms and overnighted the video in DVD quality (because YouTube quality would not be too great for a conference) using their paid for FedEx account.
If you’d like, the video can be seen at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zge8yaS7PLM
An excerpt from the message from Nintendo reads as follows:
Congratulations!
Your video “Nintendo Wii Preorder Event” has been selected for Nintendo’s press event at the E3 Media and Business Summit in July. It will be featured along with other user-generated video to highlight the continuing success of the Wii and DS.
More of the letter was not included as it contained some contact information I am sure they would prefer not go on the net. Thank you all for your continuing support! Look for my face this year at E3!
