Lately there has been buzz about a little company named Blizzard making a big announcement May 19th during a conference in Korea. Korea happens to the Starcraft capital of the world, which is still one of the most widely played games in that area. Every Blizzard fan has been speculating as to what this new announcement could possibly be.
From the looks of it, this is likely going to be the official announcement of Starcraft 2, although World of Starcraft has also been widely rumored. Although I think a World (or galaxy, solar system, universe, ect.) of Starcraft would be fun, we already have World of Warcraft which is very fun, involving, and successful (massive understatement of the century), do we really need another Blizzard produced MMORPG to compete with this title? It seems more probable that we will be seeing a new addition to Starcraft in the form of an RTS rather than an MMO. It just makes more sense as a company to provide an alternative genre for fans, and to remain true to the series’ roots. Regardless we will know for soon shortly. I (and all of Korea) really hope that this is indeed the follow up to my favorite RTS of all time. It has been too long.
For me, Starcraft introduced me to both the RTS genre and computer gaming in general. I believe I was only 11 years old when I fisrt encountered this title, and since then have logged countless hours in both campaign modes and Battlenet. Recently, I picked up Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, and this brought back a great deal of nostalgia for me, in that it was a very close experience to my first with Starcraft; the fast and planned out action. This genre has been too dry too long, so if worst comes to worst, I can always pretend that Command and Conquer 3 is the spiritual successor to Starcraft.

So what the hell is with the bunny? I love bunnies, and that one is particularly awesome! Anyways, tomorrow we will know for sure of the nature of this new announcement and I am sure to have something lame to comment about it. One other quick note. On our home page I made a little article about the announcement of the new World of Warcraft Visa cards. Since then I have applied for the card and received it in the mail! Here we go excessive spending in hopes to obtain measurable amounts of game time.
So when is starcraft 2 coming out anyway. Any mention of starcraft ruffles my feathers, I hate late games…Sweet blog though, keep it up!
Unfortunately there’s still no concrete information as to when that might be. There have been some new screen shots released, and the announcement that the game would now be released as three separate games, one to each race’s campaign, but unfortunately no release date.
