Just keep on keepin’ on.

Halo 3

So what has been going on in the wonderful wide world of Manson? Not much actually. Just work and play, the two things which comprise my life. I completed a few tasks this week which I feel pretty good about. First, I completed my class registration for fall, so watch out Forensics and Japanese, because I am on my way! Secondly, I completed Super Paper Mario! When reading a review on this, they said that this would take approximately 20 hours to complete. They are usually way off, so I thought this would likely be a 10 hour play through. No. Wrong. This game took 20 hours, and I am by no means a slow gamer. Dang. I highly recommend it, and if you care to see the game play mechanics, you will definitely want to check out game spot’s review at this link. Anyways, I was hugely impressed by the innovation and just pure fun factor this game had. Now maybe you are thinking, “Who do you think you are to be playing anything but World of Warcraft?” and my response is that I can play whatever I want!

Those of you who keep up on me know I love to keep up on the latest in video game news. I mean, come on! Just look at the news on our home page and anyone could tell you that. So what things do I find interesting in the news? I have a strange cross of nausea and excitement in relation to the recent screen shots and video leaks with Halo 3. On one hand I am impressed that the graphics aspect seems to be coming along, but on the other hand, I can’t help but feel that the entire Halo franchise in general is one of the most over rated and over acclaimed franchises in gaming history. Let the flaming begin. Yes, I realize that this series has brought FPS into the homes and into the lives of those who would not normally find themselves participating in in gaming, but at what expense? Better titles have taken a backseat to this monster. Do I like the game. Yes. Do I think it is God’s gift to those seeking the definitive FPS, a cure for AIDS, and the answer to world Peace? Not so much. Strangely enough, as I write this I have found, an article here covering IGN’s initial impressions of the new multi player beta, and thus far they are very positive. Check em out!
